So. I probably have a place to live for the next year.

Unfortunately, I don't know which apartment it'll be yet. I'll either be in a studio or a 1 bedroom in this complex that is literally directly across the street from the building in which I will be spending the most time studying.

Why don't I know yet? Long story short, the person in charge of keeping track of how many apartments are left was out for the day.

Slightly more detail. This is the only complex with studios. I like studios. I am small and don't need more than a kitchen, a bathroom, and a bed, really. Problem is that there were officially only 6 such studios left on Monday. They're popular with the grad student crowd there. (Less rent, electricity included, and stuff.) There were at most 2 left today, but they weren't sure. There may have only been one. Someone filled out an application before I did. I was off looking at other places. However, they hadn't paid their deposit yet. After looking at some smarmy apartment complexes. Okay, so they weren't smarmy, I just didn't like the guy who showed them to us. We went back to the other place to fill out an application. I filled it out and wrote a check for the fee and deposit. This puts me ahead of the other guy on the waiting list. Bam! I'm set, right? Well not really. Luckily for me, they said that in case the studios are gone, they'll guarantee me one of the one-bedrooms. Rent's $70 more, and electricity's not included, but hey, I liked the apartment when I saw it. Anyway, the reason I'm not set is really my own damn fault. Being the absent-minded person I am, I totally wrote the check wrong. The woman said I could pay the application fee and the deposit on the same check. Comes to $325. I wrote that in the numerical box. But it hadn't caught up with my consciousness that I was paying both, so I wrote out three hundred in the text area. Damn. I didn't notice until I was almost home. By that time it was Too Late. So I'll have to call on Monday and tell them about it, and pay by credit card or something.

Anyway, they're nice apartments, both of them. They were completely remodeled a few years ago, with new counters, shiny hardwood floors, new refrigerators, and everything. Also, they have central air. And! They have gas range stoves.
