Randomness

Random 1 - Spring break will happen, and the sticky bandits have plans. Though likely improbable plans.

Random 2 - Pink isn't nearly as effective as red.

Random 3 - When people say they're going to meet with you, they usually do so. Except when they don't. Though I guess some people are too busy for Linux.

Random 4 - man woman ==> "There is no manual entry for woman."

Random 5 - Robots are better than class. I should finish things and keep my fingers crossed.

Random 6 - Two professors are better than one. Happy belated pi day.

Random 7 - I can try to claim that my room is properly sorted. Heaps are good at sorting things.

Random 8 - Water is sort of cohesive, in that it isn't really at all.

Random 9 - Sometimes an asshole is just an asshole. Other times it's goatse.

Random 10 - On the other hand, a cigar tends to be repulsive whether it's "just a cigar" or a phallus.

Random 11 - Prime. Optimus Prime? Mersenne Prime? Who cares? It's still prime.

case 3: Too busy for Linux? Say WHAT?!

case 4: That's odd... I thought that at one point there really was a "woman" package in Debian, perhaps containing this... but apparently this is no longer the case. At least "dog" still exists.

case 5: YES!!!

case 7: Hehe. Statements of that sort (type? kind? category? bah!) are often heard among CS grad students.

case 11: I wish they'd given the Autobots new leaders with math-pun-ish names instead of just rereleasing Optimus Prime with more and more firepower.

default: Forgive the technically inaccurate syntax. Or consider this to be pseudocode. In any case, C-style "switch" is an unfortunate instance of a useful concept.

Red Hat does not contain a woman package.

And in order to perpetuate the punniness, I think sort should be the word of choice.

(I remember C-style "switch"... I also remember manually translating it to x86 assembly language)

Our architecture professor once noted that a particular, er, sort of branch only showed up in a certain way in switch statements, and based on this he tried to dismiss it as unimportant, because switches are rarely used. Then he remembered that the simulator we were using for that course revolved around an enormous switch statement (or possibly statements, it was hard to tell thanks to all the macros) in its main loop.

Switch will always feel like a hack, though, because I have seen the true glory of ML-style "case" or "match" expressions. Which I guess conceptually are the same as Scheme's "cond", but that reduction fails to account for the wondrous beauty of pattern matching.

As long as you don't include Rodimus Prime, we're on the same page here. That loser. >.

He had his moments. Like Five Faces of Darkness. It's not his fault that a lot of 3rd season was kind of shoddily put together.

And at least it was something different. Now days it's all "oh no, how will they get out of this one? Will Optimus Prime get yet another powerup that makes him even more badass? That's certainly never happened before!" Bah.

Re: #10... Unless it's Cuban. Cuban cigars aren't repulsive at all. Honest. (There are some Dominican fakes that aren't too bad, either. I'd have to ask Dudziak which those are, though...)

I guess maybe they'd be acceptable if I didn't find all forms of smoking repulsive in some form or another. ^.~

There are those strange souls that chew cigars. That's so much more repulsive than smoking them. Bleh!
