Sleepy...

And yet, can't sleep...

Mother's latest rant is about a terribly inconvenient change to my youngest brother's school. Next year, a young girl with a severe peanut allergy is transferring to John's public school. As a result, the principal is declaring the school to be peanut-free, without the consent of the parents of the children who have been attending the school. Not only does this mean that no student can bring peanut products and foods that were processed in the same plant as peanut products to school, it also means they can't have them at home. Except, according to the principal, on Saturdays. (Although theoretically, even this exception shouldn't be made.) Now, I can understand the concerns that the girl's parents have, sending her to school with such a severe allergy. On the other hand, suddenly forcing everyone in a public elementary school to keep peanut-free households is ridiculous. Is this an acceptable change to be forcing on families? Keep in mind that while there is one other public elementary school in the area, families have no choice concerning which one their child attends.

Right... I'll try that sleeping thing again...
